I have always wanted to go to Europe. This program stuck out to me because I have never been overseas and I am interested in agriculture in different countries. From this program I hope to learn much more about Belgium and its agriculture sustainability. Sustainability is important in the agriculture world. Agriculture sustainability includes using production techniques that protect the environment, public health, and animals. With learning the European ways I hope that I can bring my knowledge back to help agriculture in the United States. I plan to make the most of my experience and share it with everyone. Culture will be different and I am excited to see what it is made of. While in Belgium I also hope to pick up a little French to begin my goal of one day speaking the language. The background of Belgium got me hooked. Belgium is split into 3 sections (Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels). We learned this in our pre-departure meetings. We also learned about the demographics, water, and economics of the country. As the long journey begins, I cannot wait to begin the start of my traveling overall. Traveling has always been something I wanted to do and I am finally pursuing that dream. I want to thank my friends and family for everything they have done to make this possible.
